Omo Valley

John Rowe es un galardonado fotógrafo y cineasta estadounidense que pasó más de diez años fotografiando (2005-2015) a los habitantes del Valle de Omo, en Etiopia, cuyas culturas y supervivencia final hoy están en peligro.

Desde 2005, Rowe fotografió y filmó diferentes grupos étnicos, habitantes todos del lugar que National Geographic ha descrito como la "última frontera en África". Hasta hace muy poco tiempo, estas personas casi no tenían contacto con el mundo exterior. Desde siglos anteriores han vivido en las montañas y desiertos del suroeste de Etiopía. Aun hoy no tienen agua potable, ni saneamiento, ni electricidad, ni atención médica.

Con estas imágenes dramáticas, su autor documenta la belleza de estas personas y vaticina la cercanía del fin de sus culturas y tradiciones.

Beginning in 2005, Rowe photographed and filmed in a place National Geographic described as the “last frontier in Africa”. Until recently these people had little contact with the outside world. They have lived in the mountains and deserts of southwest Ethiopia. They have no clean water, sanitation, electricity or medical care.

In these dramatic images Rowe documents the beauty of the people and the end of their cultures and traditions.
